BUILT FOR AND BY CURRENT AND FORMER FOSTER YOUTH
At the Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation, we incorporate feedback from current and former foster youth into every program we offer. The following resources are available thanks to their valuable insight and the generosity of our committed donors and volunteers.
We offer scholarships to current and former foster youth who are pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or vocational education. To learn more, visit our Scholarships page.
Hosted every fourth Friday of the month at the Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation, We Are Kin is a free support group designed for kinship foster families (family members who care for the children of relatives). Foster, adoptive, and biological families are also encouraged to join.
We cover a range of topics specific to kinship foster families’ experiences and challenges. This program is hosted in collaboration with My Friends’ House Inc. and 3FN Faith Foster Families Initiative. Meals are provided. Please visit our Events page for upcoming We Are Kin events and RSVP to [email protected].
Motivated, Mingling Mothers is a group chat and dinner hosted every fourth Saturday of the month at the Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation. This therapist-led life skills group is designed for mothers who have experienced foster care.
Meals and childcare are provided so attendees can enjoy community-building and content tailored to their needs. Please visit our Events page for upcoming Motivated, Mingling Mothers events and RSVP to [email protected].
Many current and former foster youth experience housing insecurity. College-age women who have experienced foster care may be eligible for short-term, affordable residential support at the Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation center. To learn more, contact our CEO and President Jackie Broxton at [email protected].
The Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation Thanksgiving Day dinner is one of our most beloved traditions. Held annually, current and former foster youth and kinship families are invited to the center for a delicious meal, fun activities, giveaways, and more.
In collaboration with local nonprofits, businesses, law enforcement, and the LA County Board of Supervisors, our annual Resource Fair has become a fantastic one-stop opportunity for current and former foster youth. Held each spring, attendees access resources for education, employment, clothing, and more. Visit our Resource Fair page to learn about our next event.
